The Art of Self Defense ★★

I was SO looking forward to seeing this and something just missed the mark for me. It could’ve been that I was on my third flight on a trip to Norway and wasn’t it the right mindset but I don’t think so. I think it’s that the Jesse Eisenberg performance just never really lands as one of a dark comedy lead. He and his costars (likely by no fault of their own) seem to flounder for direction both tonally and narratively for most of the movie. I’ll revisit this if the opportunity arises but surely won’t actively seek it out.
