The Peanut Butter Falcon ★★★★

I don’t know what it is, but something about Shia LaBeouf just draws me in. He’s incredibly charismatic and magnetic in just about everything he does. He and Gottsagen have such a tangible chemistry and both of their characters are accessible and grounded in ways that films which feature people with disabilities generally aren’t. It doesn’t hurt that Gottsagen (a man with Down syndrome) has been acting since he was three.

This is a heartwarming film about friendship in unlikely candidates and though I knew it may be a bit saccharine for my usual tastes, once the retirement home escape sequence began, I couldn’t help but take a big ole bite.
