“Ready or Not”★1/2

Man. This had just SO much potential as a premise for a film. Several standout performances are undercut by the feeling that each actor was given a script with WILDLY different notes on how to play the scenes. This movie wasn’t funny enough to land in the vein of a Tucker and Dale vs Evil or a Cabin in the Woods and not scary (or socially relevant) enough to be a Get Out- we get it. “Fucking rich people.” On the other hand, massive props to Samara Weaving for being able to thread the tonal needle as well as anyone could’ve expected.
