Fremont Brewing "Head Full of Dynomite" ★★★1/2
Tastes like an Equinox hop that’s been dragged through the dirt for a few miles.
Packaged: 02/19 This will be the third iteration I’ve had of this beer. Hops featured in this particular batch are: Chinook, Mosaic, and Ekuanot.
Very earthy. Like taking a bite out of a russet potato. This is DEFINTELY not balanced. All hops- all the time. Hops on the nose, hops on the pallet, hops on the after taste, hops in your sleep… This could easily pass for a double IPA. Overall I enjoy this. This is a beer that I’d have to be in a very specific mood for because the earthiness is almost too much. I like the hop presence but it almost has… like a buttery aftertaste. Like buttered popcorn. Not particularly like diacetyl but buttery. I like that it has a west coast IPA hop punch. It doesn’t have that appearance but it’s got that punchy style. I’m not enjoying the aftertaste but I think that maybe the Ekuanot isn’t my favorite hop.
